Obituary in Seattle Times
Jewel Jacquline Capeluto, a lifelong Seattle resident and partner at the Seattle Curtain Manufacturing Company, died at her home with her husband by her side on Saturday, November 30, 2013. She was 81.
The youngest of three sisters, Mrs. Capeluto was born on February 24, 1932 to Fanny and Abraham Danz in the Central District of Seattle. She attended Garfield High School and the University of Washington. It was in high school that she met the love her life, Morris Capeluto. They were married for 63 years. Morrie and Jewel raised three children--Linda, Ralph and Wendy--at their Seward Park home and together grew Seattle Curtain into a beloved Seattle fixture. Jewel was also an avid Mariners fan, and so could often be found bemoaning their losses to those gathered in her home. "I'm turning off the TV. I'm not watching anymore," she was known to claim. Mrs. Capeluto is survived by her husband, Morris Capeluto, her three children, Linda (husband Leon), Ralph and Wendy (husband Stan) Capeluto, her four grandchildren and spouses as well as eight great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind a sister, Ina Willner. She's pre-deceased by her sister Geraldine Bitterman.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Congregation Ezra Bessaroth or The Seattle Hebrew Academy.
A memorial service for Mrs. Capeluto was held Monday at the Bonney-Watson Internment Seattle Sephardic Brotherhood Cemetery.
